Hazard and Risk Assessment
Support to Lockheed Martin Energy Systems, Inc.; DOE Oak Ridge Reservation (ORR) |
|
|
PAI
performed nuclear and nonnuclear facility safety analyses
to support the Safety Analysis Report Update Program at
the Y-12 Plant, East Tennessee Technology Park (ETTP), and
Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). This included
performing hazard evaluations and screenings for more than
200 facilities and processes, as well as safety
assessments, accident and consequences analyses, risk
assessments, and general safety analyses. BACK TO MENU

Tower Crane Hazard Analysis
Review, Y-12 Plant |
|
|
PAI
specialists evaluated the risk related to a 2-year
operating life extension of the temporary tower crane at
the Y-12 Plant. The evaluation addressed the risk of
accidental nuclear criticality potential caused by an
accident during the extended operation period of the
crane. BACK

Development of Risk
Presentation Methodology, DOE Savannah River Site (SRS) |
|
|
PAI provided a description of complimentary
cumulative distribution function (CCDF) methodology,
determining the relative ease of adapting methodology to
SRS safety analyses, and developed a CCDF for a facility
in which accident probabilities and consequences have
already been developed (FB-Line). BACK TO MENU

Risk Assessment Modeling for
Gunite and Associated Tanks (GAAT), ORNL |
|
|
PAI performed source-term modeling and flow and
transport modeling as part of the GAAT RI/FS. BACK TO MENU

Risk Assessment for Multiple
Sources, DOE/ORR |
|
|
PAI performed risk assessments of toxic chemicals
and radionuclides for several hazards assessment projects.
PAI identified hazards; evaluated hazardous materials
release alternatives; performed risk calculations;
performed radiation dose and chemical intake calculations;
and evaluated noncarcinogenic, carcinogenic, and
radiological health effects on off-site human receptors. BACK TO MENU

Preliminary Safety Analysis
Report (PSAR) Support, Mound |
|
|
PAI
reviewed and revised the PSAR for the Energetic Materials
Processing and Support Facility at Mound. PAI also
prepared chapters on safety, system risk, and accident
analysis. The failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) and
probabilities of occurrence were used in the system risk
analysis. BACK TO MENU

Air Dispersion Modeling,
DOE/ORR |
|
|
PAI
performed air dispersion modeling of the release of
hazardous chemicals and radionuclides in air because of
fire, spill, earthquake, or tornado scenarios. PAI
predicted on-and off-site air contaminant concentration
for several hazard analysis projects, including the ETTP
Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) Incinerator emissions
analysis, using CAP88PC and Crystal Ball (for
probabilistic analysis). BACK TO MENU

Risk
Assessments for the NASA/Ames Research Center (ARC) |
|
|
As part of its management of the ARC Industrial
Hygiene Program, PAI performs risk assessments of
chemicals by using air dispersion models such as CAMEO,
ALOHA, and acoustic models to predict exposures and hazard
boundaries. BACK TO MENU
